The secret garden on the island of power
Free experience box sends the whole family on a secret hunt in the Library Garden. Meet a famous king, a thoughtful author and many more historical characters between the garden's animals and plants.
Practical information
The activity is free. The experience box is handed out in The Black Diamond's store during the library's opening hours.
The activity is a joint experience between children aged 5-11 years and their adults.
The materials in the experience box is Danish.
Behind Royal Danish Library's high walls is a peaceful oasis right in the middle of Copenhagen. It is the Library Garden, where people for many years have sought peace and quiet between the garden's plants and animals. Some may also have caught a Pokémon or two while on a picnic.
The Library Garden has an exciting history, which goes all the way back to Christian IV's time, when the area was a naval port. That story, as well as the many whimsical and funny stories that the garden contains, you can now experience with completely new material for children and their adults.
With a box full of cards for experiences, you can go for a walk in the Library Garden and hear about its secrets. Each card is imaginatively illustrated and deals with a place in the garden and sets your wonder and curiosity in motion. For example, you can go on a bird safari, design a statue, be queen for a day, listen to the garden, and much, much more. The material contains experiences for an entire afternoon in the sun, but can also be used for a shorter visit.
Visit as a class
It is also possible to participate as a school class with our material specially prepared for the class excursion.
Take the students on a mystery hunt in Royal Danish Library's garden. Explore funny stories, find birds and statues and feel the whir of history. The material is suitable for the primary school level.
The project is supported by the Nordea Foundation.
