Queer letters in the Diamond

Experience or relive the unique, heartbreaking and deeply in love letters of the most important queers in Scandinavian cultural history brought to life by a number of fantastic actors.

The letter performance is a tribute to the handwritten, personal letter that is becoming a thing of the past. In reading, song and music, the unique feeling of receiving a letter's moving message is revived. Experience heartbreaking, beautiful, funny, touching, horrifying and deeply personal historical letters from the Royal Danish Library's collection.

The event is a re-enactment of the letter performance that ran in the spring of 2023.

Letters from Herman Bang, Selma Lagerlöf and others

The letter performance is organised in collaboration with the association LGBT+ Denmark, which is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year. All the selected letters are on the experience of being queer at times when life was not easy. For the event, a number of actors will present letters from and to, among others, Herman Bang, Selma Lagerlöf and Hans Christian Andersen.
