Pretalk: Deborah Willis
ONLY FOR THE DIAMOND CLUB - Join us on an exciting journey through Danish art and colonial history!
Based on both historical and contemporary depictions of the Danish West Indies, this pretalk gives you completely new perspectives on the role art history has played in the development of Denmark's national identity and culture since the 19th century. The lecture is given in Danish by Mathias Danbolt, professor at the Department of Arts and Cultural Studies at the University of Copenhagen, who was co-curator of The Black Diamond's exhibition Blind angles - images of the colony of the Danish West Indies.
With this lecture, you will get even more perspectives on the role of photography in cultural history, before the evening's visit by the pioneering photographer Deborah Willis (US).
