Pre-talk: Klaus Rothstein on Georg Brandes
ONLY FOR THE DIAMOND CLUB: Join us when literary critic Klaus Rothstein talks about Georg Brandes' life and work.
We focus on Georg Brandes' life and work together with literary critic Klaus Rothstein at Weekendavisen. What significance did Brandes have for Danish literature, literary criticism, literary debate, self-understanding and identity? What value battles did he fight? And how did he build a bridge between literature and politics?
It is only natural that the talk about Brandes' life and work will take place at the Royal Danish Library, where you can find the Brandes archive. It contains everything we have today of artefacts such as notebooks, diaries and the like from Brandes' own hand.
In addition to giving an insight into Brandes' life, the pre-talk will serve as a presentation for the International Authors' Stage later in the evening, where the Swedish author Elisabeth Åsbrink talks about her book My Big Beautiful Hatred about the Swedish author Victoria Benedictsson and, among other things, her relationship with Georg Brandes.
