Letters in the Diamond: Queer Letters

Experience unique, heartbreaking and deeply in love letters from the most important queers in Scandinavian cultural history brought to life by some of Denmark's best actors.

The Letter Performance is a tribute to the handwritten, personal letter, which is becoming a thing of the past. Through reading, singing and music, the unique feeling of receiving a letter's moving message is revived. Experience heartbreaking, beautiful, funny, moving, horrifying and deeply personal historical letters from Royal Danish Library's collection.

Letters from Herman Bang, Selma Lagerlöf and more

The letter performance is organised in collaboration with the LGBT+ Denmark association, which is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year. All of the selected letters are about the experience of being queer in the world of culture in times when it was not always easy. At the event, a number of actors will read letters from and to, among others, Herman Bang, Selma Lagerlöf and H.C. Andersen.
