Gold from the Archives: Thorvald Bindesbøll

DIAMOND CLUB ONLY - Hear about one of Denmark's greatest architects and designers, Thorvald Bindesbøll.

Thorvald Bindesbøll (1846-1908) is one of Denmark's greatest architects and designers, and with his twisted, airy ornamentation and toned-down colour choices, he defined the Danish equivalent to art nouveau and the Arts and Crafts Movement in many ways. He was enormously productive in many  areas of the craft, and particularly his ceramic works and silverware are much appreciated. But he also worked with book design and created works that were groundbreaking, stylish and very beautiful.

The event for the Diamond Club will present Thorvald Bindesbøll and his book art and show treasures from Royal Danish Library's rich collection of unique bookbindings, sketches, drawings and other material.
