Gold from the archives - Knut Hamsun
ONLY FOR THE DIAMOND CLUB - An evening about the complex and controversial Knut Hamsun with a display of treasures linked to the author. The event is in Danish.
Knut Hamsun (1859-1952) is a complex person. On the one hand, he wrote some of the greatest works in literary history, such as Hunger, Victoria and Pan, and on the other hand, he sympathised with Hitler's Germany and the darkest part of European history. His life and writing are also closely linked to Denmark and Copenhagen, and one of the Royal Danish Library's greatest treasure is the manuscript for the main work Mysteries from 1892.
Head of Special Collections Sonny Ankjær Sahl will present Knut Hamsun and display some of the library's treasures linked to the controversial author.
