Friday Jazz on the Waterfront – on a Thursday: Cecilie Strange Quartet
Come and listen to live jazz on the harbour in front of The Black Diamond - with free entry!
On this special edition of Friday Jazz - namely Friday Jazz on a Thursday! – you can experience the Cecilie Strange Quartet. Since 2012, saxophonist and composer Cecilie Strange has released four albums under her own name. Cecilie has received several awards and nominations for her work, including the Carl Prize 2023 in the category Composer of the Year within jazz with KALE II DO as well as 'Jazz recording of the Year' 2023 at the Presto Music Awards (UK).
In June 2023, she released the album BEYOND, a musical manifestation of peace, deep calm and contemplation inspired by the arrival of motherhood in her own life. BEYOND is the follow-up to Strange's critically acclaimed releases BLUE (2020) and BLIKAN (2021), which has been the start of Strange's international recognition with over two million plays on Spotify and reviews in a wide variety of publications, including the jazz magazine Downbeat. Her debut album from 2015: Cecilie Strange Quartet feat. Kasper Tranberg: The Beginning contains compositions inspired by modern New Yorker jazz in a melting pot of Nordic folk music. The just released album BEYOND and the previous 2 albums BLIKAN and BLUE are more pure Nordic jazz with a touch of folk, and that is the music we can look forward to hearing - on a Thursday.
