Friday Jazz on the Waterfront: Heise/von Bülow Duo

Come and listen to live jazz on the harbour in front of The Black Diamond - with free entry!

This afternoon the Heise/von Bülow Duo will take over the harbour. The duo consists of the two up-and-coming young jazz musicians Mathias Heise and Pelle von Bülow.

Mathias Heise is an award-winning Danish harmonica player, pianist and composer. In 2012 he won the Rødovre Music Award, in 2013 he became world champion in chromatic jazz harmonica at the World Harmonica Festival in Trossingen, Germany, in 2014 he won DPA's composer competition New Jazz Star of the Year, and in 2016 he was awarded the Crown Prince Couple's Stardust Prize, which is awarded to artistic talents facing an international breakthrough. In 2017, he was awarded the Ben Webster Award as the youngest recipient ever.

Pelle von Bülow is, despite his young age, already an established and recognised guitarist on the Danish jazz scene. Pelle's playing testifies to a great inspiration from the old guitar icons such as Wes Montgomery and George Benson, and a great love for blues music. He has played with i.a. Jesper Thilo, Rodney Green, Bernt Rosengren, Christina von Bülow and more.

The repertoire consists of a mixture of jazz standards, "jazzified" pop classics and own original compositions.
