What is the point of music if not to touch and influence the listener?
For the Ébène Quartet, the connection between the musicians and the audience is essential. With an almost telepathic feeling for each other on stage, the quartet creates concert experiences where the audience is overwhelmed by their strong presence, great musicality and artistic daring. A statement the audience could really feel in 2021, when the quartet visited The Diamond with a well-thought-out programme of music from three eras.
They repeat that exercise for this concert, first with a pure Viennese classic by Amadeus Mozart, then Alfred Schnittke's third quartet, which draws on quotations from the whole of music history, before ending in romanticism with Edvard Grieg's first string quartet.
