Diotima Quartet (FR)

Three-day mini festival of top string quartets: The fantastic Diotima Quartet plays chamber music of the highest quality.

Program

  • Franz Schubert: String Quartet No. 6, D 74
  • Thomas Adès: Arcadiana
    Intermission
  • Alexander von Zemlinsky: String Quartet No. 1

The sought-after quartet from Paris returns to The Black Diamond. The quartet has worked closely with several of the greatest composers including Pierre Boulez, and is one of the few quartets in the world to move seamlessly from contemporary music to pre-romanticism and back again.

The programme features a very young Schubert in his 6th Quartet, moving on to contemporary Thomas Adès and ending with Alexander von Zemlinsky's late Romantic Quartet.

The quartet consists of Yun-Peng Zhao on violin, Léo Marillier on violin, Franck Chevalier on viola and Pierre Morlet on violoncello.

String quartets in The Diamond are supported by the Obel Family Foundation and the Aage and Johanne Louis-Hansen Foundation.
