Culture Night 2022

The Diamond offers activities for children, free access to exhibitions and much more during Culture Night.

Experience the magic of The Black Diamond after dark when we open the doors to a Culture Night with lots of exciting activities for children, free entry to the exhibitions, live music with the Latin band The Latin Clásico, and the opportunity to explore the spectacular building.

Get quite the view from a glass bridge at 5th floor height, or sit at one of the historic desks in the atmospheric old reading room. For the children, we offer a creative workshop, so Culture Night in the Diamond can be an experience for the whole family.

TREASURES in Royal Danish Library

Just above the Diamond's café and shop, you will find our treasure trove, which contains everything from Hans Christian Andersen's diaries to fantastic globes and an original Tintin drawing.

For children and their adults - open until 22

Creative workshop and ex libris hunt

On the 2nd floor of the library's old building, you will find a creative workshop where you can make your own bookmark and design your own ex libris - that is, a completely unique and personal mark that you can put in your books instead of writing your name in them. You can also explore the old reading room and hunt for ex libris. Maybe you can solve the mystery of the missing ex libris symbols?

Music - concerts at 19:30, 20:45 and 22

Live jazz with The Latin Clásico

The Latin Clásico is a unique constellation of five of the best resident Latin-jazz musicians and vocalists, all of whom have a great knowledge and passion for the selected repertoire, which includes music from Cuba, Mexico, Venezuela, Brazil, etc. They have played together for many years - both as a group and as soloists with orchestras and ensembles both within and outside the Danish border.

On Culture Night, the group consists of:

Ernesto Manuitt Hernandez – vocals, cuatro and percussion
Paolo Russo – bandoneón
Signe Asmussen – vocals
Elvio Bravo – guitar and vocals
Yasser Morejón Pino – bass and coro
