In the 18th century, much music was created that had the sole purpose of entertaining and exciting noble and influential persons for festive occasions. It was typically fun, quirky, catchy and virtuosic music, which was popularly called "nachtmusik" or "serenade music".
Mozart and Haydn are great ambassadors for the genre, but there is also an abundance of talented but lesser-known composers who specialised in this form of entertainment.
Enjoy being introduced to some of them at this festive evening.
