Chris Thile (US)
Hear again the award-winning American mandolin virtuoso, singer and songwriter Chris Thile in the Queen's Hall.
Chris Thile is a musical multi-talent. He is both a singer, songwriter and mandolinist, and has released a long series of solo albums with both his own songs and interpretations of Bach, Bartók and Leonard Cohen, among others. He has been described in The Guardian as “that rare creature: an all-round musician” and in NPR as a “genre-transcending musical genius”.
Thile has co-founded several Grammy-winning bands, including the acclaimed American string band Punch Brothers and the bluegrass band Nickel Creek, which released the album Celebrants in 2023. He has also collaborated with countless artists, from Yo-Yo Ma to Fiona Apple.
This evening you can experience him solo with excerpts from his critically acclaimed solo recordings of Bach's sonatas and partitas for mandolin in glorious union with his very special mix of classical, folk and improvisation.
