When Royal Danish Library's DR-arkiv goes live on 31 March, 2025, there will be access to more than a million radio and television broadcasts, whenever and wherever it suits you. Initially, we will provide access to content broadcast from 2006 onwards. Older broadcasts will be added continuously until the turn of the year 2026/27, just as we will continue to add broadcasts from DR's channels.

The Minister for Culture Jakob Engel-Schmidt says: I am pleased that we can now open up large parts of the gold mine of radio and television broadcasts stored in DR's archives. With the opening of DR-arkivet, all Danes will have a unique opportunity to delve into our common history and learn more about our age - this has, among other things, been a major wish of Dansk Folkeparti. I am proud that we in Denmark can create an open archive and secure radio and television broadcasts for future generations.

Royal Danish Library's work with DR-arkivet will continue after the opening. We will further develop the archive and improve search options to ensure that DR-arkivet becomes a living gateway to cultural heritage. The next step will be to get older content into the archive.

Royal Danish Library's DR-arkiv is a result of the media agreement 2023-2026, which was concluded by the government, Socialistisk Folkeparti, Enhedslisten, Radikale Venstre and Dansk Folkeparti. A total of DKK 110 million has been allocated for the purpose.
