In connection with the opening of the exhibition "The Year's Best Bookwork" on 12 June 2024, HM Queen Margrethe will receive the Association for Bookbinding's Honorary Award for her unique personal efforts for the benefit of Danish book culture - as an illustrator, translator and inspirer.

Exhibition celebrates the best in book design

"Best Bookwork of the Year" shows both the high quality within modern Danish book design and the aesthetic range; from the classic carried by centuries-old traditions, to the creatively innovative and challenging, which emphasises the supreme role of the physical book as a mediator united with an artistic expression.

From a large field of several hundred submitted books, two expert committees under the Association for Bookbinding have selected 30 industrially produced and six handbound books. The exhibition invites visitors to sit down and look, read, feel and leaf through the books on display - and to take home an exhibition catalogue free of charge, which shows and motivates the works on display and tells about the work of the Association for Bookbinding.
