Royal Danish Library's business forum prioritises knowledge and education for leaders. We present new perspectives from a selection of the world's leading experts in their fields - at the intersection of economics, politics, philosophy and management.

We create a forum for new knowledge and new perspectives with room to grow. Here you can find inspiration, reflect and give yourself the opportunity to think a little bigger than what is often possible on a daily basis. The programme addresses the state of the world as well as philosophical and educational questions in relation to leading and developing in a broad sense.

The business forum also provides unique access to other experiences at The Black Diamond, exhibitions, concerts and author presentations, which can create value for employees and networks.

Jeremy Rifkin (US) on Planet Aqua

Tuesday, 13 May, 2025 at 7:30 p.m. in the Queen's Hall, The Black Diamond, Copenhagen.

Hear one of the world's leading sustainability experts focus on water as one of the most important environmental issues of the future, and give us his advice on how we learn to re-adapt to our blue planet.

Economist and social theorist Jeremy Rifkin is one of the world's leading social thinkers, and one of those whom political leaders in the US and Europe as well as China call when they want a qualified opinion on how we solve problems for a better future.

Crises start a revolution for the better

Jeremy Rifkin is the author of a wide range of books and theories about the scientific and technological changes in the economy, labour, society and the environment, and has helped shape global conversations about sustainability with his groundbreaking insights.

According to Rifkin, the last 250 years of the industrial era are now over, as our relationship with communication, energy, water and mobility has radically changed in a short time. In his 2022 book, The Age of Resilience – Reimagining Existence on a Rewilding Earth, Rifkin argues for how the climate crisis, AI, water scarcity, refugee flows and biodiversity crisis can create a revolution for the better – and what that future might look like.

From Earth to Planet Aqua

In his latest book, Planet Aqua (2024), Rifkin focuses on our blue planet and encourages us to rethink our place in the universe. The hydrosphere, which sustains life on Earth, is under severe pressure due to global warming, and is responding with floods, heat waves, and hurricanes that are impacting our ecosystems. Instead of seeing the globe as a single Earth globe, he urges us to redefine our approach to the globe, highlighting the planet's water as the driving force.

On 13 May, you can hear Rifkin's visionary thoughts about a changing world in The Black Diamond, and get his take on how humanity can learn to readapt to Planet Aqua.
