J.P.E. Hartmann
Sechs Gesänge für eine Singstimme mit Begleitung des Pianoforte
Opus 55
HartW Coll. 06
DF 127
Authors: Christian Felix Weisse; Oscar von Redwitz; Joseph von Eichendorff; Johann Wolfgang von Goethe; J.N. Vogel
Dedicatee: Sophie Gade
Composition: 28 July 1853 to 13 Aug. 1853.
This was the first time Hartmann had one of his works published by Breitkopf & Härtel in Leipzig. Therefore, he asked his son-in-law, Niels W. Gade, to negotiate with the publishers. The songs were dedicated to Gade's wife, Sophie. Opus 55 was also used for "Novellette i sex Smaastykker", probably because Breitkopf & Härtel did not coordinate with C.C. Lose & Delbanco in Copenhagen. No. 1 is dated 28 July 1853; No. 2 6 Aug. 1853; No. 3 undated, probably because it is the same date as Nos. 4-5; No. 5 dated 11 Aug. 1853, and No. 6 13 Aug. 1853.
